Find Out
About Our Family

Throughout the admissions web site, you'll find stories about the VES family. Keep your eyes open--if you see a "Way of Family," you're in for a surprise. Just roll your cursor over the number, and you'll uncover one of the many ways that VES is truly a family. We've included the first few in this gallery... it's up to you to discover the rest.
It won't take long. You'll sense it the minute you step on campus. It's a feeling, an attitude. It's kinder here, friendlier, warmer. We are a family--of students, teachers and administrators who genuinely care for one another. Yes, we have as challenging a curriculum as you'll find anywhere--but it's no pressure cooker here. At VES, you'll be challenged--a lot. It's just that, win or lose, you'll be supported, too. It's amazing the heights you can attain when others are there alongside you. It's why our students are so successful.

It's why our family is so strong.

When you think of friends in high school, you don't usually think of teachers, do you? You will here!

There are many opportunities to participate in the performing arts at VES. For those who enjoy music, there's our Glee Club, Vocal and Instrumental Ensembles, with three major concerts each year. Students interested in drama are kept just as busy--with our fall play, winter touring company and spring musical.

VES supports the spiritual life of every student. Services are held each Sunday evening (some students will go off campus with teachers on Sunday morning.) Students, faculty and administration meet in the chapel daily--a required chapel service is held each Wednesday morning with assemblies on other days. Faculty participate in services, as do students. Two theology courses are required at VES, although students can take more.

The philosophy at VES is that every student is going to college. And so, our curriculum is designed so that a student will be competitive at any college in the country, if they work hard.

What fun stuff is happening at VES? A lot! There are joint parties with other prep schools. Huge snowball fights--teachers are open game! There's the big slip-and-slide down the hill. Super Bowl Sunday mania. Skiing at Wintergreen and Snowshoe.
